HOW DO YOU SAY and WRITE Dates IN SPANISH!

¡Hola! Today's lesson is all about FECHAS! Dates!!! 1,2,3,4 etc etc etc

¿Ya saben escribir las fechas en español? Do you already know how to write dates in Spanish?

Writing dates in Spanish is pretty much the same as in English... 😊¡pero hay una trampilla! There´s a little catch! 😞

The date format that Spanish speakers prefer is the following:  day / month / year.  This is the opposite in English (especially US English), where the month comes FIRST, before both the day and the year (that is: month / day / year)!

Note: British/UK English , however, allows the same format as the Spanish: day/month/year

So, for example!

Today's date is March 1, 2018 or in UK 1st of March, 2018. In Spanish, we say "el uno DE marzo DE 2018". You need the preposition "de" in between the date, month and year. In Latin America, you may hear people say it like : el "primero" de marzo de 2018, which is also correct! 👍

Yesterday was February 28, 2018. In Spanish: Ayer fue el 28 de febrero de 2018. "Ayer" means yesterday.

Tomorrow is Friday, March 2, 2018. Mañana es viernes, el dos de marzo de 2018. "Mañana" means tomorrow, and "viernes" means Friday.

The declaration of the American Independence was on July 4, 1776. La declaración de la independencia estadounidense fue el cuatro de julio de 1776.

Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879. Él nació el 14 de marzo de 1879.

There you go! It's a very easy topic in Spanish, I know! But I want to see how well you've learned today's lesson! In the comments section below this post, write your COMPLETE BIRTHDAY ! First in English, then after that in Spanish! REMEMBER: Follow the Spanish date format! :)

Okay? ¡Buena suerte!
